LARAMIE -- Join the Laramie Plains Museum in celebrating the 150th anniversary of Stephen and Eva Downey’s arrival in Laramie.

A reception will be held in recognition of the Downey family’s contributions to the Laramie community from 1869 to 1937. A short program will introduce attendees to the Downey’s accomplishments and Stephen Downey will be recognized as The Father of the University of Wyoming by the UW Board of Trustees. Artifacts pertinent to the event will be displayed and light refreshments will be served.

The free program is set for 2 p.m. Sunday, July 28 at the Alice Hardie Stevens Center, 603 E. University Ave. in Laramie.
