Taking Smartphone Photos Poses Privacy Hazard [VIDEO]
A new wave of anxiety has swept the internet world, this time focused on smartphone pictures uploaded to the internet. A new study shows the ease of finding the location of the photo taken using Geo-Tagging, which poses a potential threat to the privacy and safety of the smartphone user and the photo subject.
This study shows how to look up the location of the person in a picture taken with a smartphone, uploaded to the internet. When a photo is uploaded to the internet, a data trail is left behind giving those who know where to look an accurate description of the location of where the photo was taken. Parents especially fell threatened by this. The fear of strangers knowing where a child goes to school or plays is a scary thought for many parents. However, there are ways to disable this type of data tracking to greatly cut down the privacy risk.
