
This Day In Cheyenne History: Tom Horn Is Found Guilty For Murder
Cheyenne is known for its railroads, quick township and crime. Today, in Cheyenne history, Tom Horn was found guilty for the murder of Willie Nickell, whom Horn mistook for his dad.
Horn was known as a stock detective and was hired to take out the father of Willie Nickell. Unfortunately, Nickell's son, Willie, was mistaken for as his father and was shot on that July day in 1901.
However, it was on this day Oct. 24 in 1902, that Tom Horn was actually found guilty of the murder.
According to history, Tom Horn hanged on Nov. 19, 1903.
