Have you ever watched the 'Creature From The Black Lagoon'?

If you've never seen this classic sci-fi film from 1954, you can watch it for nothing at the Brimmer Amphitheatre in Lions Park tomorrow, July 17. 'Creature From The Black Lagoon' is this week's Free Movie in the Park.

The show begins at dusk on Tuesday and you might want to bring your lawn chairs, blankets and maybe some rain gear just in case.

While watching the trailer on YouTube, it brought back some great memories of seeing this movie when I was a kid. I never saw it at the theater in 3D though, that literally would take it to a whole new dimension.

One of the reasons this movie sticks in my head is good marketing. We had gotten a toy 'creature' that we played with for years.

The 6-inch orange plastic 'Creature from the Black Lagoon' was the perfect enemy for G.I. Joe and Major Matt Mason.

If I had anything to do with colorizing this film from the mid-50's, I'd make the 'Creature' orange.

Also, while watching the movie, listen for the suspenseful music. Henry Mancini collaborated on the music score with Hans J. Salter and Herman Stein.

Is there a movie you remember that became a big part of your childhood?
