The Cheyenne Sixers overcame an early deficit and rallied for a 6-3 victory over Jackson on Day 4 of the 2022 Wyoming Legion Baseball ‘AA’ State Tournament on Thursday.

Zack Costopoulos had two hits, including the go-ahead RBI single and a two-run home run, and drove in three runs to lead the Sixers to the win. Ben Bohlmann went the distance on the mound and after an early mistake, held the Giants’ bats in check.

Matt Fisher’s three-run home run over the little green monster in left field gave Jackson a quick 3-0 lead.

Cheyenne rallied with three runs in the bottom of the first inning thanks to a wild pitch, an error, and a sacrifice fly by Wyatt Haught.

Costopoulos singled up the middle in the fourth inning, which gave Cheyenne their first in the game, at 4-3. His two-run home run to rightfield near the scoreboard added insurance in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Bohlmann allowed only three hits after the first inning. His line was three runs allowed on five hits with 11 strikeouts. Bohlmann also walked five in the complete game victory.

Cheyenne is back in the state championship game for the third straight year. They will be seeking their 20th title in the last 23 seasons. The Sixers take on Gillette at 11 a.m. on Friday from Thorne-Rider Stadium in Sheridan.
