Our neighbors in Nebraska are under water.

Homes, farms, ranches and bridges are gone.

Our hearts break for the those who have lost their homes, or worse — their loved ones — as a result of natural disasters.

There are many organizations out there that can help. Here area a few that can be trusted, along with how to contact them and donate.

 

 

American Red Cross
The American Red Cross of Nebraska & Southwest Iowa is encouraging residents who want to help others during these floods to donate to their relief fund.

Salvation Army
The Salvation Army is in action in northeast Nebraska and western Iowa working alongside first responders and authorities to provide relief to victims of the widespread flooding. You can help relief efforts by donating here.

 

Nebraska Humane Society in Omaha
We have an Amazon wishlist filled with items that we'll be stockpiling for those that might need them. Items that we need the most would be clean, wire kennels, collars, leashes, food, and towels/blankets. Wishlist:

Catholic Social Services
Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska says it his accepting monetary donations to assist those affected by the horrific and ongoing flood/storm damage in Nebraska. Checks may be mailed to them at their administrative offices (2241 O St. Lincoln NE 68510) OR via their website. If donating by check, be sure to list "flood relief" in your check memo. If donating online, designate "flood relief" in the "specific designation for your gift" field.

 

Russ's Market & Super Saver
Customers can help with flood relief by filling the buses with items needed by the Salvation Army. Currently, the main emphasis is for cleaning products such as household cleaners, bleach, brooms, and towels. Non-perishable food items needed include snack foods for relief workers.
The event will take place starting on Tuesday, March 19th and run through Friday, March 22nd, at 6:00pm. Cornhusker International Trucks will ship the product to the Salvation Army for dispersal.
In addition to the Fill the Bus event, each Lincoln Russ’s Market and Super Saver location will have a Round Up at the check lanes. Customers can round up their purchase to the nearest dollar and the proceeds will go to the Salvation Army and directed to Nebraska flood relief. The round up will start on Tuesday, March 19th and go through Sunday, April 7th.

 

United Way of the Midlands
100% of every donation to the Nebraska/Iowa Flood Relief Fund will be directed to nonprofit programs meeting people’s needs for emergency shelter, food and more. Donors will have the opportunity to direct their gift to a specific community within Nebraska or Iowa if they so wish. United Way of the Midlands encourages everyone in need of assistance to call 2-1-1, text their zip code to 898211 or visit www.ne211.org. The 2-1-1 Helpline will be available 24/7 for the immediate future.
