Wyoming’s Oldest Dog Is Still Going Strong At 116
Meet the oldest dog in Wyoming.
His name is Teddy and he's still going strong at the ripe old age of 116. Teddy is a black and brown retriever mix who local historians believe was born in 1901 in the town of Encampment.
Teddy must have been a good dog because his owner, a seamstress named Hettie Kyner, loved him very much. In fact, when he was run over by a wagon, she couldn't bear to part with her best friend.
Instead, Hettie used her skills as a seamstress to create a taxidermy replica of Teddy. Over the years, he continuted to watch over the family until he was donated to the Grand Encampment Museum.
For the past five decades, Teddy has been a popular fixture at the museum, where he greets visitors from his perch in the back of an old pickup truck.
If you ever pass through the charming town of Encampment, Wyoming, stop in and say hello to the oldest dog in the Cowboy State.
