Did you have a chance to see Freddie Mercury in concert?

The lead singer of Queen was one of the performers I'd always dreamed of seeing in person but never was able to. It was 25 years ago today that he made his last public appearance.

Queen appeared at the 11th annual Brit Awards on February 18, 1990 to accept their trophy for Outstanding Contribution to British Music. Mercury looked gaunt and acted unusually reserved at the event, when the band received their award he walked to the podium but guitarist Brian May did the speaking.

He thanked members of the recording industry for allowing Queen the freedom to pursue what they loosely call art and jokingly thanked the British petroleum industry for giving them the award for recycling so much vinyl over the years.

Freddie Mercury simply added 'thank you...goodnight.' His last words to the public until November 22, 1991 when he confirmed his AID's diagnosis. He died on November 24, 1991 in London.

Luckily, Freddie had left behind many great examples of his talented singing voice for us to enjoy. Join me for tonight's KING Concert Cut and hear a performance of 'Bohemian Rhapsody.'
