Hoping to fit in some concerts before summer's over? Here's a look at some of the bands playing around our area.

Steely Dan hits Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Thursday, August 8, at 7:30 p.m. The opening act is the Deep Blue Organ Trio. Donald Fagen, Walter Becker and the band are currently on their 'Mood Swings: 8 Miles To Pancake Day Tour.'Gooding, the trio from Kansas that's now based in Los Angeles, play the Chinook Tavern in Glenwood Springs tonight, August 8. They'll return to Cheyenne on Saturday, September 7, at The Midtown Tavern.

In downtown Cheyenne on August 8, a band from Portland, Oregon, Icarus The Owl, perform at Ernie November, beginning at 7 p.m.

Fridays on the Plaza, August 9, presents Shaving Peggy at the Depot Plaza 5:30 until 8 p.m. then catch the sixth annual Robin Muniz Memorial benefit concert featuring the local bands Avenue and the Change Agents. The show is free but donations will be accepted for Safehouse.

Also on Friday, August 9, Boxcar Blaney entertain at Sanford's Pub and Grub, 115 East 17th Street, starting at 7 p.m. and there's no cover charge.

The Steamboat Steak and Smoke House, 1947 Dell Range Boulevard, has Howard Skaggs at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 9, playing a free show.

At the beautiful Red Rocks Amphitheate in Morrison, Colorado on Saturday, August 10, see the Yonder Mountain String Band with The Devil Makes Three beginning at 6 p.m.

Shaving Peggy perform at the free 50th Birthday Bash and Barbeque at Alf's Pub, on the corner of 19th Street and Logan Avenue, Saturday, August 10, starting at 5 p.m.

And of course, the entertainment in Sturgis, South Dakota continues for motorcycle week. The Buffalo Chip Campground features Lynyrd Skynyrd August 8, Robby Krieger of The Doors on Friday, August 10, and Fuel, Filter and Alien Ant Farm performing on Saturday, August 10.
