Stage Collapses at Ottawa Bluesfest (YouTube)
Did you catch Cheap Trick at the Greeley Stampede with Blue Oyster Cult on July 2? At least that show wasn't shortened by the wind.
At the Ottawa Bluesfest in Canada, the stage collapsed during Cheap Trick's show Sunday night, July 17, due to a sudden storm. The Toronto Sun reported Monday morning that two people were taken to the hospital, one with a "traumatic injury to the abdomen, pelvis and upper leg."
Cheap Trick's official website says that nobody in the band was injured during the collapse, but a truck driver on the crew, only identified as "Sandy," spent the night at the hospital. Dave Frey, the band's manager, tells Rolling Stone that the Rockford, Illinois band's equipment is a total loss, "everything is gone." He adds, "The gear is crushed and it's soaked."
