Legendary musician and songwriter Leon Russell passed away yesterday at the age of 74.

During the course of his Hall of Fame career, Russell released 31 albums and over 400 songs. He was also a highly sought after session keyboardist, who played alongside Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Frank Sinatra and countless others.

As a member of Jerry Lee Lewis' band, Russell was part of an infamous concert in Cheyenne. After a brawl in the audience nearly poured onstage, the band packed up their instruments, rushed offstage and raced out of town.

Russell's final Wyoming performance took place April 25, 2015 at the Gryphon Theatre in Laramie.

The venerable piano man took the stage in his trademark cowboy hat, dark sunglasses and cane, before launching into a cover of Ray Charles’ “I Got A Woman”.

Russell’s 90 minute set included a long list of classic songs along with personal stories about his collaborations Elvis Presley, B.B. King, George Harrison, Joe Cocker and The Flying Burrito Brothers.

Here’s a video clip from the show, featuring Russell’s medley of the Rolling Stones classic ‘Jumpin’ Jack Flash’ and the Motown standard ‘Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone'.
