ORIGINAL STORY:

Alta Vista Elementary School has been placed on a secure perimeter while Cheyenne police look for a man who took off running from a traffic stop.

"Just before 2 p.m., our officers saw an ATV driving in the area," said Officer Kevin Malatesta. "When they attempted to stop it, the ATV fled. (We) initiated a very short pursuit, went a couple of blocks and then the driver ran on foot."

"Turns out it was a stolen ATV and it stopped in the area of 18th and Dunn," Malatesta added.

Malatesta says secure perimeters are pretty routine and parents shouldn't be overly concerned.

"We just want to make sure that that person doesn't try getting into the school at any point in time," said Malatesta.
