The recent closing of Jackson's All American Sports Grill has left a void for local football fans.

Sure, Buffalo Wild Wings has all the games and the food is good, but it lacks the local charm that Jackson's had. In fact, our Buffalo Wild Wings even has a Detroit Red Wings jersey hanging near the bar, for shame.

There's also Old Chicago, which is great if you're watching a Cubs or Bears game.

But what about a Wyoming sports bar? A place with a bunch of televisions, a good kitchen, a big beer selection, with Broncos, Rockies, Avalanche and Pokes jerseys on the wall.

The closest you'll find to that these days is Wyoming's Rib and Chop House and Sanford's Grub and Pub downtown. Although they're not technically sports bars, they're good places to watch a game, have a brew and grab a bite.

For my money, Two Doors Down serves the best burger in Cheyenne. They also have sports memorabilia on the wall. With a bigger beer selection and a few more big screens, their downtown location would be an excellent venue for sports fans.

The new Accomplice Beer Company in the Depot downtown would also be a great place for football fans, if only they had more tv's.

In the meantime, here's hoping that somebody buys Jackson's and restores its former glory because Cheyenne needs a great, local sports bar. And right now, it doesn't have one.
