Cheyenne Restaurant Celebrating Anniversary With Free Pig Roast
MEAT at Kennison's is throwing a parking lot party to celebrate their first anniversary. Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on 1802 Dell Range, the popular meat shop and restaurant will be roasting a whole hog and inviting the public to pig out on free samples.
Ami Kennison started her catering business in 2008. While her kids showed cattle at auctions, fairs, and rodeos, she sold sandwiches from a food truck. After her children all graduated from high school, Ami and her husband Dana sold their livestock and opened their restaurant.
"It was always my plan to have a restaurant," Ami said. "We knew that as soon as the kids grew up, we were going to chase this dream."
Her kids might be grown, but mom is still the boss. Her daughter Hailey helps run the kitchen. Her sons both have full-time jobs but still get called in to help for special events like Saturday's anniversary party. Dad will be there too, manning the pit in the parking lot.
Along with their restaurant, MEAT at Kennison's also caters weddings and events and offers a variety of wholesale meats, including locally sourced beef, chicken, lamb, pork, and sausage.
