The geyser known as Steamboat has been more active than we are used to. That has led some to believe that something big might be happening under the old super volcano.

Yellowstone eruptions occur roughly every 600,000 years. That would make us overdue for the next one by about 15,000 years.

At the same time, we might wonder about other fault lines in North America, which are tens if not hundreds of thousands of years overdue. At some point, all the pressure has to go somewhere.

Some scientists now estimate Yellowstone is one of the most unpredictable and dangerous threats faced by humanity. Hannah Shamloo and Christy Till, at the University of Arizona, suggest that Yellowstone might just blow in the next few decades.

But not all scientist agree. No one knows for sure. This is far from an exact science. All we can do is keep an eye on the old gal and hope it's not in our lifetime. Although, that means we are wishing it on future generations.

So the questions is, can we relieve the pressure before old Yellow goes BOOM? Believe it or not, scientist are looking into it.
