Have you ever seen The Who in concert?

The British rockers have an extensive 50th anniversary tour scheduled for 2015, I'll be playing a live performance of The Who's 'Magic Bus' as tonight's KING Concert Cut.

Tune in about 7:50 p.m. for The Who as tonight's KING Concert Cut, a long version of 'Magic Bus.' The song, with it's Bo Diddley beat, was included on the 1971 compilation 'Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy.'

In the early 1980's, The Who tour came to Folsom Field in Boulder along with opening acts George Thorogood and John Mellencamp. We were very excited about our favorite British band coming to our area, we celebrated with a concert party the night before.

Part of the festivities was painting sheets to hold up at the concert, one had The Who logo with all of our greetings to the band in the background. The next day, all with foggy heads, we loaded into my pickup truck and we headed for Boulder.

It was a fantastic day filled with great music, but the encore of John Mellencamp's set still sticks in my head. The young performer from Indiana was trying so hard to please the crowd, reaching out to them and even rolling around on the stage apron at one time to get them going. Still mostly all you could hear were boo's.

Then it became obvious that the anxious fans weren't booing the opening act, they were so excited about the headliners that throughout their opener's sets, they were already yelling 'The Who, Who, Who.'
