Stock Says District Working To Reduce Student/Teacher Ratio
Despite the fact that Laramie County School District #1 was one of 20 school districts in Wyoming to receive a waiver from a state-mandated student/teacher ratio of 16-1 , LCSD #1 Superintendent Mark Stock says the district is working to reduce the current ratio. Stock says the district plans to hire 19 new elementary school teachers in grades k-3. Stock says the new hires should bring the district wide average down to about 17.5-1. The waiver the district received from the state is good for only one year, and districts which received the waiver for the 2012-2013 school year will have to apply for another waiver for next year if they cannot meet the state mandate, according to Stock.
