No good deed goes unpunished? Not in Teton County, Wyoming where officers will be issuing Christmas bonuses in addition to tickets. Jackson Hole News And Guide reports some generous Teton County philanthropists have again this year, given a substantial amount of money to local law enforcement to hand out $50 to $100 at a time to residents this holiday season.

Teton County Sheriff Jim Whalen said deputies, officers and troopers will be on the lookout this month for people doing good deeds, for almost anything; Helping someone out of a snowbank, exercising good driving habits, calling dispatch with helpful public safety information or even witnessing a crime.

Whalen said. “It might even just be someone who is down on their luck. This is all about spreading goodwill in almost any way we can.”

The cash handouts will probably start within the next week.

What a cool idea! Now make sure you’re on your best behavior.
