9AM Road Report for Friday, April 21st, 2017

It’s not over until it’s over, and mother nature has dropped a spring snow storm on us. It rolled in early this morning, causing a bit of a mess both on and off the freeways, with wet and slushy conditions causing some slick surface on many stretches, and you have limited visibility that’s causing some difficult driving conditions resulting in closures, including:

I-80

I-80 Eastbound is CLOSED between Cheyenne and Laramie due to a nasty crash caused by these conditions.  Wyoming Department of Transportation estimates this stretch of Eastbound I-80 to open between 12 p.m.-2 p.m.

I-80 is wet with rain, snow and some slush between Cheyenne and the Nebraska State Line

I-25

I-25 is slick with snowfall between Cheyenne and the Colorado State Line, I-25 is also slick with snowfall between Cheyenne and Chugwater, then wet and rainy conditions further north into Casper.

Hwy 85

Hwy 85 is wet with snowfall between Cheyenne and Meriden and from Cheyenne south to the Colorado State Line

Hwy 287

Hwy 287 Southbound is CLOSED between Laramie and the Colorado State Line due to a crash in the southbound direction, with an estimated re-open time of between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m., Northbound 287 is open, but you can expect some slick and snowy road conditions along with poor visibility!

Keep in mind, whether you’re on or off the freeways, visibility is going to be a major factor on the drive, so please keep your headlights on and on low beam, and drive at slower speeds for these conditions!
