Several media outlets are reporting that a man walked off the boardwalk and fell into a Yellowstone hot spring.

“Witnesses saw a man in his early 20s walk off the boardwalk in the Norris Geyser Basin area and fall into the thermal spring about 225 yards away.” According to Fox.

Fox8 reports “At this time, rangers are treating the incident as a probable fatality because the victim has not been located. Park officials say rangers are using extreme caution as they respond given the hazards of the thermal area.”

“The Norris Geyser Basin is the hottest and most dynamic thermal area in Yellowstone, which features springs that can reach temperatures close to 200 degrees Fahrenheit.” – Chicago Tribune, Yellowstone says Porkchop Geyser ranges from “Temperature 98-162°F.”

This follows Saturday’s incident of a 13 year old boy burning his ankle and foot in a Yellowstone hot spring. There have also been recent incidents involving park animals.
