Are you going to The Who concert in Denver?

Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend bring their 50th anniversary tour to the Pepsi Center on March 29 and to celebrate, we look back on other Who concerts in the area over the years.

Have you ever seen The Who in concert? On Tuesday, March 29, they bring The Who Hits 50! tour to the Pepsi Center as a make-up date for their postponed December 2015 concert. Here's a look at some of the shows they've played in our area since the early 1970's.

1. Tuesday, June 9, 1970-The Who play their first concert in Denver at the Mammoth Gardens. This was the first of two consecutive nights at the venue.

2. Sunday, October 17, 1982-The first time I saw The Who was at Folsom Field in Boulder along with John Cougar and George Thorogood. The crowd sounded like they were booing while a young John Mellencamp sang, they were mostly yelling for The Who!! We had partied the night before and even painted sheets to hold up at the show. Kenney Jones of The Faces was on drums, taking over for Keith Moon.

3. Tuesday, October 29, 1996-The Who rocked McNichols Arena in the Mile High City, bringing with them a band that included a horn section and guest vocalists Gary Glitter and Billy Idol.

4. Tuesday, November 14, 2006-The Pretenders open for The Who at the Pepsi Center. Pete, Roger and the band barely made it from Salt Lake City for the show due to a big snowstorm. John 'The Rabbit' Bundrick's wife was ill so keyboard tech Brian Kehew filled in. We had tickets in the third level but were moved down to better seats when much of the crowd didn't make it.

5. Tuesday, February 12, 2013-The Who perform 'Quadrophenia' and other classics at the Pepsi Center in Denver. We were excited when The Who tour was announced in the summer of 2012 and there was a Mile High City date included.
