Mr. Rogers once said that, when he would see things happening on the news that distressed him: "“my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’”

The snowpocalypse, bomb cyclone, snowmegeddon, winter storm Ulmer, etc, whatever you call it, it did affect a lot of life in Cheyenne and Laramie in the last week. Whether it called for changing plans when schools were cancelled, to finding a way to get into work, or having stores closed for several days and roads untravelable, there were impacts everywhere.

But in the storm, there were the helpers. Today I'd like to say a public thank you to those who took time out of their day to help. From the neighbors who got into their personal snow removal equipment to help dig out roads that didn't get hit by snow plows, to the hostess at the Iron Skillet offering free buffet meals to any stranded travelers, the helpers were everywhere and they were making huge impacts.

I got stuck in my SUV trying to get the mail shortly after the storm. I swear, the drift didn't look that big! Before I even had the chance to get stuck, however, I had three different vehicles stopped to help me, and five gentlemen pushing to get my car out of the drift. Then they left, jumping into their front-end loaders and giant trucks and riding off into the wind.

You could almost see the capes.
