The Cheyenne Downtown Development Authority and Visit Cheyenne will merge on July 1, according to a joint news release issued by both organizations on Friday.

DDA Director Amber Ash recently announced she will be stepping down on July 1. The release quotes Ash as saying:

“It has been an honor to serve as the Executive Director for the DDA.” said Ash,. “Despite the challenges COVID presented, I believe that our downtown community has experienced substantial progress and growth over the past 16 months. This merger is a way to continue the momentum achieved by the DDA while allowing both organizations to combine their talents and resources in order to streamline the services they provide to the community.''

The release goes on to say:

''The combination of the DDA’s change in leadership along with open positions on both the Visit Cheyenne and DDA Boards of Directors, presented a unique opportunity for a smooth transition allowing both organizations to explore the benefits of the organizational partnership without affecting the regular operations and services provided. Under the MOU, the DDA will be organized to operate as a subdivision of Visit Cheyenne and both Boards of Directors will be blended, operating as a single board while maintaining representation for both organizations. Services that each respective organization provides will not be affected."

The release also says that the day-to-day operations of both organizations will remain unaffected. It says the merger will allow both to be more cost-efficient.

Visit Cheyenne promotes travel and tourism to Cheyenne, while the Downtown Development Authority promotes business in downtown Cheyenne.
