Concert producing heavyweights of Coachella and Bonnaroo are teaming up for Denver super festival.

The Denver concert scene has been fairly healthy over the years with venues such as Red Rocks, Mile High Stadium, MacNichols Arena, Fiddler’s Green, Denver Botanic Gardens and more. Big Time music promoter Barry Fey was a major player in bringing in musical acts for decades but his death in 2013 left a power vacuum that had others coming in to put on shows.

Barry’s former cohort, Chuck Morris is now with AEG, the parent company that owns Coachella and is now angling with Superfly, the production company behind Bonnaroo and Outside Lands, and are hoping to launch their latest event by September of 2018.

They want to bring a “Super Festival” for an estimated 30,000 to 60,000 music fans to the Denver area for a “Coachella-esque experience” where they mix music and art. It’s also a bunch of crazies getting their party on.

The prime location would be Denver’s Overland Park Golf Course according to a public meeting at the course last week. The community was split on the idea of a major event in their neighborhood. AEG’s response was that the event would not be forced on anyone.  “We will not do this festival here if the community doesn’t want it.”

They have a number of fallback locations but the The goal is to keep the festival close to Denver to tap the wealthy millennials there.

Morris told Westword “The investment of festivals is an absolute bloody fortune, and we’ve just got to be sure, we’re in the phase of looking at all options.”
