Did you score a miracle ticket to the Grateful Dead concerts?

If you didn't happen to get any tickets to the Grateful Dead's Fare Thee Well shows in Chicago, they'll be simulcast at Fathom Theaters including some in Ft. Collins, Colorado.

I wish I was going to see the Grateful Dead live at Soldier Field but the next best thing and affordable option might be a trip to Colorado to catch it on the big screen. Fathom Events theaters are carrying all three shows, July 3, 4 and 5, at 6 p.m. The closest theaters to Cheyenne are The Cinemark Timberline, 4721 S. Timberline, in Ft. Collins and then the Westminster Promenade 24 near Denver and Boulder's Century Theaters.

The Grateful Dead promised fans three farewell shows to commemorate their 50th anniversary this summer, tickets sold out in record time after the mail order sales of tickets opened up. The band added two more shows in Santa Clara, California on June 27 and 28 to give Dead Heads more chances to catch them.

The current band consists of all the remaining members plus some special guests:

  • Bob Weir-guitarist
  • Phil Lesh-bassist
  • Bill Kreutzmann-drummer
  • Mickey Hart-drummer
  • Bruce Hornsby-keyboards
  • Trey Anastasio-Phish guitarist
  • Jeff Chimenti-keyboards

This should end up being a once-in-a-lifetime event to close out the long live and strange history of the Grateful Dead. They are sure to play three completely different shows including a wide variety of songs from throughout their five-decade career. Maybe even a few classic cover tunes could be featured like some Bob Dylan. What songs would you like to hear them play?
