“Thousands of Americans are going to be flooding the nation's emergency rooms this Fourth of July weekend suffering from self-inflicted fireworks injuries.” Says washingtonpost.com. “Over 12000 Americans hurt themselves with fireworks last year.”

Hands and fingers account for just under half of the injuries followed by eye injuries and then hand/face/ear damage.

The biggest danger is from sparklers (24%). They burn at about 2,000 degrees, hot enough to melt some metals. They are followed by reloadable shells, small firecrackers, roman candles and novelties, such as smoke bombs and in 6th place, bottle rockets

Lets give ER and Urgent Care staff a break, be careful out there.
