Just in time for Halloween, here's another one of Wyoming's most haunted places.

Before Sue Miller and her husband opened Wyoming Home in 1998, the historic building on 216 West Lincolnway in downtown Cheyenne housed the Federal Magistrate Office in the 1880's and later became Union Pacific Hotel. Some believe the building is still haunted by the ghosts of its former guests.

According to local legend, one of those ghosts is a friendly man in a cowboy hat who occasionally roams the halls upstairs. One popular theory is that the spirit may be the ghost of Tom Horn, the notorious gun man who was publicly hanged in Cheyenne in 1903. It is likely that, whether as prisoner or lawmen, Horn would have spent a considerable amount of time in the building.

Another popular legend contends that the ghost of George Beard, the manager of a failed bank who reportedly committed suicide in the building, will occasionally appear in the building, throwing objects around the offices upstairs.

According to Wyoming Home owner Sue Miller, she's never had any ghostly encounters in the 17 years she's worked there. However, she has heard stories from a few of her employees and colleagues. Recently, an employee conducted an overnight investigation using equipment that detects paranormal activity. The examination revealed one apparition in the office.
