Why Do The World’s Richest Bankers Meet in Wyoming Every Year?
For the past 35 years, the most powerful bankers in the world have held a conference every summer in Wyoming. Why Wyoming? Because rich guys love to fish.
In 1982, the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City was looking for a place to host their annual Economic Symposium. At the time, Paul Volcker was the Chairman of the Federal Reserve and the organizers knew that his appearance at their convention would help lure other leaders from the global finance industry.
Washington, D.C. was too hot and humid in August and they knew Volcker loved to fish. So they began to scout locations with nice weather and great fishing.
The trout must have really been biting that summer because they've been coming back to Jackson every year since.
