The Freedom 5K will take place Saturday, August 17th.

The 5K is to help support the local firefighters here in the area. The opening ceremony will be at 8:30 am that morning. Then at 9 am the 5K will get underway, along with the kid's dash and the gear trudge. Both the run and walk will start at the Capitol Building but depending on which one you are doing they take different routes after that.

The 5K run/walk (3.1 miles) route will be through the downtown area and the through the Fire House.

The Gear Trudge is for Police, Fire, and Military. They will walk one mile with all their packs, bunker gear, swat gear and whatever else they carry.

If you are doing the one-mile walk, that route is the same as the gear trudge. You will walk with uniform personnel and celebrate your freedom.

The Kids Dash is only five blocks long. Servicemen and women will be along the route cheering them on. All the kids will receive a medal and a shirt.

After all of this, there will be an awards ceremony at 10 am.

Racers can start showing around 6:30 to the Civic Center Commons. From 6:30 to 7:20 racers can get their race bags. Click here to register.
