The 2021 Wyoming Legion Baseball Class ‘AA’ State Tournament is in Laramie from July 26-30.

It’s an eight-team, modified, double-elimination bracket. The Cheyenne Sixers are the defending ‘AA’ State Champions.

This year’s winner advances to the Pacific Northwest Regional Tournament, which will be in Gillette, Aug. 4-8, 2021. The Riders already have a spot in the tournament as the host team. If they win state, then the second-place team will go to the regional tournament. If not, the winner joins Gillette in the bracket.

The East Conference No. 2 seed finished with a tie between Laramie and Sheridan at 5-7. The tie-breaker that determined the seed was runs allowed in conference-only games. The Rangers gave up four fewer and take the No. 2 seed, while the Troopers get the third seed.

Monday, July 26:

Final Score: Game 1: (E3) Sheridan Troopers 9 (W2) Evanston Outlaws 2 - Troopers scored 2 runs in each of the 1st three innings. Steel had 3 hits & 3 RBI's, while Kilpatrick added 3 hits (2-2B) & 2 RBI's. Nelson went all 7 for Sheridan on the mound. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits. MacDonald had 1 hit and 1 RBI to pace the Outlaws in defeat.

Final Score: Game 2: (E4) Gillette Roughriders 5 (W1) Casper Oilers 4 [8 inns.] - Riders scored 3 in the top of the 8th and survived a comeback by the Oilers. Fink had the go-ahead RBI single, while Newlin followed with a key 2-run single. Fink got the win in relief. Casper scored 2 on a Barr single with 2 outs but a pop out to shallow left ended the game.

Final Score: Game 3: (E1) Cheyenne Sixers 12 (W4) Rock Springs Stallions 0 - The game was scoreless for 3 innings. The Sixers scored 12 in the next 3 frames, including a game-ending grand slam by Hastings. He had 2 hits & 5 RBI's. Anderson added 3 hits & 2 RBI's. Oswald & Bohlmann combine on a 5-hit shutout.

Final Score: Game 4: (E2) Laramie Rangers 5 (W3) Jackson Giants 4 - Rangers rally in the 7th with 3 runs for the victory. The game ended on a fielder's choice and an error that leads to two runs. Morris had 2 hits & 1 RBI for Laramie. The Giants got 3 hits and 1 RBI from Bleggi.

Tuesday, July 27:

Final Score: Game 5: Evanston 13 Rock Springs 0 - (Stallions are eliminated) The Outlaws scored in each inning. They jumped out to a 5-0 lead and tacked on 8 runs in the 4th to close it out early. Moyles led a 12-hit attack with 2 hits (3B) and 4 RBI's. Eldredge allowed only 3 hits over 4 innings for the win on the mound.

Final Score: Game 6: Casper 23 Jackson 1 - (Giants are eliminated) - Oilers jumped out 10-0 and then added 7 in the 4th and 6 in the 5th. Barr had 3 extra-base hits (2B, 2-3B) and 5 RBI's.

Final Score: Game 7: Cheyenne 5 Sheridan 1 - Sixers score 2 in the 2nd and 3 in the 4th to prevail. Onisto allows 1 run on 6 hits with 7 K's and 2 walks. Tafoya had 2 hits & drove in a run.

Final Score: Game 8: Laramie 9 Gillette 2 - Rangers scored 6 runs in the 3rd & 4th innings to break a 1-1 tie. Hogsett had 3 hits and 4 RBI's. Morris added 4 hits and drove in one. Chavez goes 5.2 innings for the win.

Wednesday, July 28:

Final Score: Game 9: Casper 12 Sheridan 6 - (Troopers are eliminated) - Oilers jumped to a 6-0 lead. Troopers came back to tie it at 6-6. Casper scores the last six for the win. Wilcox & Wagner with 2 hits & 3 RBI's each.

Final Score: Game 10: Evanston 3 Gillette 1 - (Roughriders are eliminated) - Outlaws tied it in the 2nd and took the lead for good in the 3rd. They added one insurance run in the 5th. G. Allred allows 1 unearned run on only 3 hits.

Final Score: Game 11: Cheyenne 16 Laramie 0 - Sixers break it open with a 7-run 3rd inning. They doubled their lead in the 7th with 8 runs. Anderson had 3 hits (2-2B) and 2 RBI's. The Rangers were held to 4 hits in the shutout loss.

Thursday, July 29: (Pairings for these two games will not match previous opponents against each other unless absolutely necessary.)

Final Score: Game 12: Laramie 5 Casper 4 [8 inns.] - Rangers win on a walk with the bases loaded in the 8th. Casper led 4-0 until Laramie rallied and tied it in the 6th.

Final Score: Game 13: Cheyenne 15 Evanston 8 - Sixers rally from down 4-3 & 6-4. Cheyenne exploded for 10 runs in the 5th for the victory. Costopoulos had 4 hits (3B) & 3 RBI's. Swaen added 2 hits (2B) & 4 RBI's.

(Note: If 3 teams remain with one loss after Game 13, the winner of Game 11 will automatically be drawn into Game 14)

Friday, July 30:

Final Score: Game 14: State Championship Game: Cheyenne 9 Laramie 2 - Sixers win their 18th title in the last 21 seasons. McAnelly had a double, triple, and a 2-run home run (3-4) and 3 RBI's in the win. Costopoulos added 2 hits and 1 RBI. Feezer and McAnelly combine to allow 2 unearned runs on 2 hits on just 77 pitches. Feezer got the win.
